Navoris is a small independent publication about consumer security software, written in English and published from the Czech Republic by DIVISTAR s.r.o..

Why it exists

Security software is sold in a market where the buyer usually cannot evaluate the product. You cannot tell whether an antivirus engine is good by using it; if it is working, nothing happens, and if it is not working, nothing visibly happens either. That asymmetry has produced a genre of writing that is mostly advertising wearing the clothes of journalism: invented star ratings, reader stories that no reader wrote, countdown timers, and feature lists that quietly describe a more expensive plan than the one being sold.

We publish the opposite of that, while being honest that we are paid the same way those sites are. The difference we are trying to hold is not that we take no commission — we do — but that we disclose it in full, refuse to fabricate anything, and write the unprofitable paragraphs: the features a plan lacks, the renewal price, the free alternative, the case for buying nothing.

What we publish

• Explainers on how the technology works — detection layers, phishing, ransomware and backups. These carry no commercial links at all.
• Buyer's guides to specific products, which do carry partner links and say so at the top, in the middle and at the bottom.

Who writes it

Mary Baker is the responsible editor and director of publication, and is accountable for everything on the site. Articles carry a named byline and a date. There are no anonymous posts and no invented author personas.

How it is paid for

Affiliate commission, and nothing else. No display advertising, no sponsored posts, no paid reviews, no subscriptions, no reader data sold — there is no reader data to sell. The full account is in the editorial policy.
